Maryland Farm Bureau Annual MEETING OF DELEGATES

As a result of the challenges organizing our usual in-person Annual Convention & Meeting of Delegates due to the coronavirus pandemic; the board of directors has approved the following changes to the format of this year’s meeting.

Registration is now open by using the form below. All credentialed proxy delegates and alternate proxy delegates are encouraged to attend the meeting in-person at their respective district satellite location. Each location will have a strict limit of no more than 25 persons to comply with new state regulations to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.

All voting members, associate members, and supporters of the Maryland Farm Bureau are kindly asked to register for a link so that they can attend the meeting virtually from the comfort of their homes.

GENERAL AGENDA

Monday, December 7, 2020 – The delegate body will convene in-person at their respective satellite locations at 1:00 pm to review pro forma business and review and accept the Resolutions Committee report. We anticipate that business for the day will conclude by 5:00 pm. The business meeting will be streamed online.

Tuesday, December 8, 2020 – District caucuses will convene in-person at their respective satellite locations at 8:00 am to conduct district director elections, elections to the MDFB Executive Committee, and to conduct elections to the MDFB Political Action Committee. There will be a 30-minute break from 9:00 am – 9:30 am. The whole delegate body will reconvene in-person at their respective satellite locations to close the Resolutions Committee report, to review and vote on the Nominations Committee report for First and Second Vice President, and conduct closing business and adjourn. We anticipate that business for the day will conclude by 12:00 pm noon. The district caucuses and delegate session will be streamed online.

Delegate Registration | PAST DUE – LATE APPLICATIONS FOR CREDENTIALS CAN STILL BE REQUESTED
Each county Farm Bureau, along with the Women’s Leadership and Young Farmers Committees, is asked to secure two (2) proxy delegates, and each affiliate organization is asked to secure one (1) proxy delegate. It is the responsibility of each county Farm Bureau and affiliate organization to select their proxy delegates however they choose. Proxy delegates will carry a weighted vote in which each proxy will cast fifty percent (50%) of the total delegate seats allocated to each county or affiliate organization based on the official closing membership numbers as of June 30, 2020. Please see the chart in the memo above for clarification on how many delegates each county is allowed.

Nomination Forms
The board of directors request that all those who intend to be nominated for or self-nominate for the position of district director to the state board of directors, Executive Committee of the state board of directors, committee members of the Maryland Farm Bureau Political Action Committee, and officers of the state board of directors, First Vice President and Second Vice President; submit their nominations in advance to the Corporate Secretary through the use of an official electronic nominations form.

Officer nominations (First Vice President and Second Vice President) are due by Monday, October 26th 9:00 am EST. District Caucus Nominations (District Director, Executive Committee, and Political Action Committee) are due by Monday, November 16th at 9:00 am EST
