Maryland Farm Bureau is currently seeking interested applicants for the following position(s):

Executive Director

Scope of Position:

The Executive Director shall manage and lead the day-to-day operations of the Farm Bureau, to include strategic planning, program coordination and evaluation, budget development and management, personnel management, property and office management, sponsorships retention and membership development. The Executive Director is responsible and reports directly to the President, the Board of Directors and its Executive Committee for the operation of the Farm Bureau, Farm Bureau Service Company and MFB PAC. Anticipated start date is July 2019.


  • Facilitate and implement annual budget and strategic planning for the Farm Bureau. Manage and facilitate Board initiatives.
  • Manage all aspects of personnel, office, property and business operations of the Farm Bureau. Current personnel include up to 10 employees, some of whom work remotely with county farm bureaus.
  • Develop, with grassroots volunteers, a membership development campaign annually that targets growth and aligns budgets and program initiatives to achieve goal.
  • Develop and conduct financing strategies to cultivate financial investment and sponsorship opportunities. Provide stewardship of funds and relationships.
  • Facilitate and manage Board, committees, MFB PAC and MFB Service Company activities to include meeting arrangements, reporting, retention of Board documents and archiving of supporting documents.
  • Collaborate with Farm Bureaus at the county, state and federal level.
  • Advocate for and facilitate relationships with partner organizations such as Nationwide, LEAD Maryland, and other commodity groups. Advocate for Maryland Farm Bureau and facilitate relationships with elected and appointed officials at the county and state level.
  • Other duties as identified by the Board of Directors.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required. At the discretion of the Search Committee, relevant prior experiences, trainings and certifications may substitute for some educational requirements.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in the administration and management of paid staff.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budget development and financial management.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building experience relevant to working with a large, active volunteer Board of Directors and a dedicated staff.
  • Working knowledge of agriculture and an understanding of grassroots, volunteer organizations.
  • Any offer will be contingent upon the results of a criminal background check and drug testing.
