Dorchester
Farm Bureau Ambassador
Shelby Elliott
Hi, my name is Shelby Elliott, the daughter of Mark
and Mary Elliott of Vienna, Maryland. I am a senior
at Cambridge South Dorchester High School where I
participate in many after-school activities. I am a
member of the Cambridge Vikings Swim Team and take
dance at the Eastern Shore Dance Academy.
During the summer and some weekends, I help my
grandparents on their poultry farm. My greatest
pleasure is spending time with my family and
friends.
When I became the Dorchester Farm Bureau Ambassador
I had no idea how much I would learn or how much fun
was involved. In late August I had the privilege of
competing in Timonium with 21 other young ladies
from around Maryland in hopes of becoming Miss
Maryland Agriculture. During the competition there
were adventures, trips and opportunities that will
never be forgotten. Meeting the other young ladies
from the various counties across the state was great
and I have made some “forever friends.”
Part of my ambassador duties this past summer was
attending the Caroline-Dorchester County Fair to
help serve dinners and present the awards for the
talent show. I am excited to continue my role as
Dorchester Farm Bureau Ambassador and I’m really
looking forward to participating in the Cambridge
and Hurlock Christmas parades and attending the
Maryland Farm Bureau Meeting in Ocean City.
I highly recommend that all young farmers take
advantage of this opportunity. You will have lots of
fun as well as have a great learning experience.
