Queen Anne's County is located in the north-central part of Maryland's Eastern Shore.  They county occupies 238,229 acres, which is partly on the mainland and partly on islands.  The county has a diversified agriculture, including small grains, dairy, livestock, vegetables for canning and fresh market, soybeans, corn and wheat.  In 2001, Queen Anne's County ranked first in wheat, corn and soybean production and third in barley production.  Seafood also is important to the county's economy.  There are 419 farms with an average size of 401 acres.  The total number of farmland acres in Queen Anne's County is 167,957.
